Work in two groups: those for Green Belts and those against. Use the text to help you prepare a class debate.

Group 1— Arguments for Green Belts (Группа 1 - Аргументы за Зелёные пояса)
• Green belts beatify the overall look of the country and prevent unnecessary urban sprawl. (Зеленые пояса канонизируют внешний вид страны и предотвращают ненужную застройку).
• Provide green open spaces with fresh air to take a break from the city and enjoy the outdoors. (Обеспечивают зеленые просторы со свежим воздухом, чтобы отдохнуть от города и наслаждаться природой).
• They are home to much wildlife. (Они являются домом для животного мира).
• Their trees and plants clean the pollution from the air. etc (Их деревья и растения очистить загрязнения из воздуха. и т.д).

Group 2 — Arguments against Green Belts (Группа 2 - Аргументы против Зелёных поясов)
• There is too much land allocated for green belts and should be freed up and used for the expansion of cities and towns. (Слишком много земли выделено под зеленые насаждения и должны быть освобождены и использованы для расширения городов).
• Some Green Belt land is not at all attractive and should be developed. (Некоторые земли Зеленых поясов вовсе не привлекательны и должны быть разработаны).
