Folk tales are part of traditional cultures in places all
over the world. They have several things in common:
• The beginning of the story starts with 'Once upon a
time ...'or a similar phrase.
They feature ordinary people e. g. a woodcutter,
a fisherman.
They deal with human problems e. g. family, poverty.
They contain extraordinary luck e. g. finding money
or supernatural elements e. g. a goose that lays
golden eggs.
They contain life lessons, morals or values that are
important to that culture, e. g. share your good fortune
with others.
