The Great Belt East Suspension Bridge The Great Belt East Suspension Bridge (the 'Storebreltsforbindelse') , links the Baltic Sea to the North Sea, between the islands of Halsskov and Sproga in Denmark. It has the third longest free-standing span in the world. This span is 1624 m long. The road deck is 25. l m wide and 65 m above the water, and the total length of the bridge, with the roads leading up to it, is 6.8 km. On the main span there are two pylons. The pylons are between 27 metres below sea level and 254 metres above sea level. The cables attached to the pylons are made of steel.
