The Russian celebrate New Year with a two-week celebration. The most important celebrations take place at midnight on 1st January. This is when families say goodbye to the last year and welcome New Year. Everybody believe that new year will bring them good luck and happiness. Fireworks go off and the streets are full of happy people wearing elegant clothes and consumes of Father Frost and Snow-maiden, dancing to loud music, eating lots of food and drinking champagne.
