When tourists visit the big cities of Kazakhstan, they always stop to buy some souvenirs at one of the lively bazaars and
flea markets. You can find everything here – spices, food,
household items, clothes, electronics, beautiful handmade
carpets. Zelyony Bazaar in Almaty, for example, is a popular
food market. It is the best place to try traditional Kazakh
cuisine, such as horse sausage, 'Kazakh meat, manti and
kumis. You won't find better kumis anywhere in the city! The
sellers often give free samples to the customers. They know
that their products are good and that once you have tried
the sample, it will be difficult to walk away without buying
something! Things might seem expensive at first, but you can
haggle over the price with the stall owner and pay less. There
are many other interesting markets all over the country, like
Samal Bazaar in Shymkent and the Central Bazaar in Astana.
