past   simple   (простое   прошедшее   время)   используется, если   событие произошло в определенное время в прошлом и не продолжается в настоящем. в past simple   могут использоваться слова:  

ago (one year ago – год назад),

yesterday (вчера),

last (last year – в прошлом году) и др.

present   perfect   (настоящее   совершенное   время)   обозначает:  

- действие, уже совершившееся до момента речи, но имеющего непосредственную связь с настоящим моментом,

- действие, начавшееся в прошлом, но которое еще не закончилось (т.е. которое все еще продолжается). часто употребляется с обстоятельствами времени с предлогом for — в течение (for years — в течение многих лет), с предлогом since — с (since 2017), а также придаточным предложением с союзом since — с тех пор.

- действие хотя и произошло в прошлом, но может быть повторено.
