Awell-known proverb says that first impressions are half the battle. it means that when we see a person for the first time, we always estimate his or her appearance and clothes, and then manners and character. and only after we spend much time together with this person, we begin to understand his inner world, his real thoughts and feelings. that is why i think, those, who say that appearance doesn’t matter at all, are slightly insincere. of course, height and weight are not the most crucial things on earth, but sometimes they really matter. for example, when you are applying for a prestigious job, your appearance may play a decisive role.
As for my appearance, i consider myself to be neither ugly nor exceptionally beautiful. to my mind, i look quite ordinary, though my friends often say i am good-looking. but first of all, let me introduce myself. my name is maria, and i am a second-year university student. i am twenty years old. i am quite short in height – just 162 centimeters. i wouldn’t say that i am too thin: my weight is about 57 kilograms. but personally, i think that my body is nice, and i don’t want to be skinny. что касается моей внешности, то я не считаю себя ни уродиной, ни исключительной красавицей. на мой взгляд, я выгляжу вполне обычно, хотя мои друзья часто говорят, что я симпатичная. но прежде всего, разрешите представиться. меня зовут мария, я студентка второго курса университета. мне двадцать лет. я довольно маленького роста – всего 162 сантиметра. я не могу сказать, что я худая – мой вес около 57 килограмм. но лично я считаю, что у меня красивая фигура, и я не хочу быть тощей. вот так

i like to travel. first of all, the members of our family usually have long walks in the country. such walks are called hikes. if we want to see countryside we have to spend a part of our summer holidays on hikes. during such hikes we see a lot of interesting places, sometimes we meet interesting people. it's useful for all members of our family. we take our rucksacks. we don't think about tickets and there is no need to hurry up.
as for me, it's more comfortable to travel by train and by plane. but it's difficult to buy tickets for the plane. that's why we buy our tickets beforehand. when i travel by plane, i don't spend a lot of time going from one place to another. i like to fly. if i travel by train or by plane my friends see me off at the railway station or in the airport.
i like to travel by car. it's interesting too, because you can see many things in a short time. when we go by car, we don't take tickets. we put all things we need in a car. we don't carry then.
sometimes we go to the seaside for a few days. as usual the weather is warm and we can swim. it's a pleasure to watch white ships. so i can say that i enjoy all kinds of travelling very much.
